The hostal was better than what we expected. Even if the personnel does not speak English we manage to understand and they helped with directions and map for our hike 😁The rooms and bathroom were really clean ( even the shared ones), and food was tasty.

Poncebos is a great starting point for treks in los Picos.
Poncebos is a great starting point for treks in los Picos. The funicular train up to Bulnes is here as is the path that goes up to Bulnes. You can also start the Cares gorge walk here. This is one of the most beautiful walks in Spain and accessible to all ages.
This hostel has an excellent location for hiking. The roads are packed with cars, so it's nice to wake up and already be near the trails. It is very comfortable with great rooms and beds. Bathrooms are shared, but there are plenty and they are very clean and spacious. Breakfast is provided and the restaurant serves lunches, tapas and dinner as well. There are buses scheduled from Arenas de Cabrales to Poncebos; the bus stop is a 5-10 min walk from the hostel depending on how much luggage you are carrying.
best location we could find for the starting/end point of the Ruta de Cares. breakfast and dinner were available on site, and they had a cute bar. this was key, since you would have to drive to get to a restaurant. safe parking was included in price. we parked close to the trailhead and did the hike. my friend and i split up, which was no problem logistically, since i was able to walk back to the hotel, and did not need the car to get there.
Superb location and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Parking directly in front of property. We had room with own bath/shower and the water was super hot and pressure great. Food in the evening, although basic, was plentiful and tasty. Breakfast was more than adequate before setting out on one of the numerous walks which start/end in Poncebos. For a Hostel, this makes a great stay and good value for money.
Excellent location and welcoming staff. This place is perfect for nature lovers-my room featured a small balcony with mountain views and I fell asleep and woke to the sound of the river Cares. Delicious food and rate includes breakfast of coffee, local pastries, pan con tomate and the best orange juice. After a day of hiking, enjoy their amazing Asturian stewed beans and Rioja wines. Muchas gracias, Mirador!
The location of this property was amazing…just a very short walk to the Bulnes funicular. Property is dated but just fine. Owner was very friendly and breakfast was good (freshly baked croissants with pressed orange juice). Free parking on road in front of hotel. For anyone with mobility issues, there are no rooms available at ground level, up a flight of stairs to reception and then up again to rooms.
Wonderful, friendly host who was available at anytime, serving both at the front desk and in the restaurant. The restaurant was a relaxed and friendly place to eat, with a selection of traditional Spanish dishes. The location is fantastic, right beside the Cares Gorge and the funicular that takes you to Bulnes. The hotel is perfect for those wanting to walk in the mountains.
Perfect location for the funicular that takes you up to the beautiful village of Bulnes.
It’s not a fancy hotel but certainly clean and welcoming. The staff were attentive and the breakfast was more than sufficient. Great value for money. The menu was also excellent for the price.
The manager spoke very little English and we spoke even less Spanish, but that really didn't matter. He did everything he could to make us feel welcome. The hotel is in an excellent location for going walking. The service was a bit erratic but excellent when it happened.
Very helpful staff. Very simple hotel with clean, comfortable rooms, on-site restaurant (with huge portions), and very friendly staff. Very close to the start of the Ruta de Cares - a 10-15 minute walk to the start or a 2 minute drive.
The family who runs this small low-key hotel are wonderful. The rooms are small and simple, but the location is perfect for parking and day hiking and the hosts very warm. We also enjoyed the lunch of the day which was a great deal.
Location at the start of the Cares path. We could do the whole route and come back in the day. Staff is very friendly. Manolo was there all the time to support on everything! Hotel and room were very clean.
It was the best day spent with a toddler. The soul rested and the heart rejoiced. Very nice and cozy hotel, clean and comfortable room, amazing location. I will definitely return.
Lovely clean and comfortable budget hotel. Staff very friendly. The menu del dia at 15 euros was a great deal, great local comfort food at the end of a long days hike.
