"This Spanish French toast is delicious! I really liked the recipe and will definitely make it again." – Veronica

Ingredients

4  eggs 1 quart milk 1 cup sugar, divided 2 tsp cinnamon 3 tbsp honey Extra virgin olive oil Lemon peel Orange peel 1 tsp cardamom seeds 1 star anise 1 bar French bread

Slowly simmer the milk, 1/2 cup sugar, citrus peel & spices. Cut your bread into thick slices.

After 15 minutes, soak the bread slices in the warm milk until all the milk gets absorbed.

Beat the eggs in a separate bowl and dip the bread in. It's time to fry!

Fry each slice in lots of olive oil over high heat, flipping to ensure they're nice and golden on both sides.

Let the torrijas rest on paper towels after frying. When all the bread is fried, dust with cinnamon sugar.

Finally, make a syrup with the remaining cinnamon sugar, 2 cups of water, and honey. Simmer for 30 minutes and drizzle over the torrijas.

Now comes the hardest part: waiting for your Spanish French toast to cool! Let chill for at least 4 hours in the fridge, serve, and enjoy!
